Problem statement
Gingivitis affects over 50% of Americans and is preventable by means of flossing and proper dental care, practices that are not commonly or effectively done. With around 40% of Americans lacking dental insurance in 2012, many rely on their personal care for their oral health.

summary
Part A was all about deciding what product we wanted to invent, defining the problem, and using research and a survey to see if the product was marketable to the public. After making a decision matrix to narrow down our ideas, we decided on a toothbrush that will dispense floss from the bottom of it. We think this product is unique and can hold many benefits, such as encouraging people to floss and to change their toothbrush more often. Our survey was very successful and telling of what kind of hygiene people currently have and if they think they would buy our product/benefit from it. Though a lot of people said that they were satisfied with their current toothbrush, over 50% said they would be more inclined to floss if the floss was held and dispensed out of their toothbrush. We will now take this data and move on to the next step of the process in Part B!
